The Root Folder specifies where WAV101 will save its recordings, snapshots and log files. It may be located on either a fixed, removable or mapped network drive. Once defined, an additional WAV101 folder will be implicitly appended by the file manager itself. Along with housing the profile folders, the additional folder safeguards any surrounding data from the Disk Quotas algorithm. Keep in mind that AV alerts and administrative notifications are available if the folder ever becomes inaccessible.
The file manager uses a file index to oversee the content of the root folder. Any manual modifications to the root folder will invalidate the index. If corrupted, it may be discarded and rebuilt with either the Rebuild link or by restarting the application altogether.
Disk Quotas simply limit the life span of any file; to a maximum of 365 days, or by cumulative file size. If enabled, disk quotas are enforced at start-up, hourly and when a new file is generated. All profile folders will be considered. Furthermore, any superfluous content; not belonging to a valid profile, will be deleted.
Disk Space optionally provides warnings in the form of AV alerts and administrative notifications. They are triggered whenever the available disk capacity drops below the designated value.
Refer to the Dashboard's File Management performance counters to monitor the file manager's activity. As with all WAV101 controllers, activity summaries will also be appended to the Event Viewer for transparency.
Cache ManagementWAV101 recordings generate intermediate files as part of the recording process. More to the point, video files are assembled in WAV101's cache folder. Once finalized, they are deployed to their profile folder. Having said that, the Cache Folder setting is intended for those running recording intensive applications that would prefer operating the cache on an alternate device. Otherwise, this setting can be ignored. If applicable, refer to the Settings dialog's Dashboard \ Cache performance counter to gauge the size required by your application.
The Cache folder may be located on either a fixed, removable or mapped network drive with 2 restrictions;
Once defined, an additional WAV101_CACHE folder will be implicitly appended as a safeguard. Its intent is to protect any surrounding files during cache maintenance. In any case, AV alerts and administrative notifications are available if ever the folder becomes inaccessible.
