Overview

WAV101 has been designed to be a versatile, computer vision utility. It may be used to convert any PC into an IP camera, a video recorder or a surveillance base station. Its machine vision feature also allows it to be used as the foundation of a visual inspection system. Multiple configurations are permitted through the use of profiles. Although only one can be active at a time, profiles allow WAV101 to be reconfigured without the need to modify individual fields.

WAV101 accommodates a wide range of non-proprietary, video sources. They include IP cameras, USB cameras, webcams and computer displays. Regardless of the source, each is available for real-time, time-lapse or high-speed video recording. Keep in mind that video files may also be defined as video sources themselves. This allows their content to serve as simulations that can be shared and studied.

WAV101 supports both motion and sonic detection. Alarm event responses are available in the form of AV alerts, snapshots, recordings, email and SMS notifications. If required, alarm levels can also be communicated to other network devices for further processing. Use the Machine Vision feature to have coordinates also included.

WAV101 includes an embedded web server that allows remote access for all or selectively. In either case, remote access is available to any browser-capable device with network access; including smart phones, tablets and other computers. If required, the web server also allows WAV101 to operate as an IP camera. Its security features include an application firewall, automatic IP blocking and an authorized users list. Furthermore, either self-signed or authorized SSL certificates may be used to encrypt data when in transit.

WAV101 also includes additional security measures for applications where operator and administrator are differentiated. In this case, configurations can be password protected to strictly control settings. As a precaution, sensitive passwords use one-way password hashing. That is; once entered, passwords cannot be reviewed. However, they can always be overwritten. On the other hand, user passwords are recoverable provided that an email service is appropriately implemented.

Especially note that the embedded web server, SMTP mailer, Network Explorer, URL Contacts, as well as, IP cameras and microphones require network access. All of which will require firewall rules. It is left up to the user whether these rules are defined individually or comprehensively with a single rule. If required, use the Settings dialog's About \ WAV101 copy icon to copy WAV101's location to the clipboard. It may then be pasted into the rule's program location field. Consult your systems administrator for greater detail on this topic.
