WAV101 has been designed to convert any PC into an IP camera, a video recorder or a surveillance base station. Its machine vision feature also allows it to be used as the foundation of a visual inspection system. Multiple configurations are permitted through the use of profiles. Although only one can be active at a time, profiles allow WAV101 to be reconfigured without the need to modify individual fields.
DownloadEspecially note that WAV101 relies on a software update service to ensure its integrity. Both are incompatible with any PC running "Reboot to Restore" software or any PC located on an air-gapped network.
Additional Considerations - Factory AutomationSelect your mail exchange and SMS gateway so as to satisfy data recovery and unattended operational needs. Keep in mind that WAN access may not be required for in house operation. However, a mail server should be installed on the host PC if none is accessible. Consult your systems administrator for greater detail on this topic.
Remote access should be limited to administrative and operational use only. The effects of further loading the video stream can range from negligible to being an excessive burden on the host PC. Therefore, increase the CPU core count proportional to its demand. In the worst case scenario, use a tiered topology to isolate video streaming for passive viewers. As a general rule, the use of Wi-Fi should be avoided due to its susceptibility to interference. In any case, ensure that the network bandwidth can handle the expected demand. Consult your systems administrator for factors specific to your application.
Although the bulk of WAV101's video processing is CPU centric, even a modest dGPU will improve system responsiveness and reduce CPU loading. Keep in mind that at least two FHD displays are recommended to comfortably work with WAV101. Select your GPU and display configuration according to your application.
Increase the SSD capacity so as to satisfy long-term, data storage needs. Unavoidably, frame resolution, encoding, duration and lifespan of video recordings and snapshots must be further factored. Keep in mind that a dual drive topology; SSD + HDD, can be considered for data intensive applications. That is; dedicate a mechanical disk drive to data storage, while limiting the solid state drive to the operating system and programs. Refer to the File Management topic for greater detail.
WAV101 optionally allows its cache folder to be operated from a custom location. Its intent is to prevent any avoidable SSD wear associated with recording intensive applications. Having said that, increase the RAM capacity if the cache folder is to be located on a RAM Drive. Refer to the Cache Management topic for greater detail.
Provision for out-of-process, operator inspection has also been implemented through event frame buffering. However, this feature can consume RAM at a significant rate. Therefore, increase RAM capacity factoring frame resolution, event frequency and desired persistence. Refer to the Machine Vision topic for greater detail on this topic.
As a rule of thumb, modern gaming PCs contain all the components needed to deliver the highest level of performance possible from WAV101. Although greater core counts allow its features to operate in parallel, each feature generally follows a single-thread model. As a result, their performance is directly dependent on the CPU clock, RAM and disk transfer rates. In any case, all PCs operate at their best at cool temperatures, protected from dust and condensation.
